About what we can do for you. Regarding what we can offer you, our expertise spans over 30 years in addressing chronic pelvic pain and concerns. Throughout our practice, we’ve assisted numerous individuals. In our consultations, we’ve attentively heard their narratives and experiences of pain. Many have expressed fatigue from enduring persistent symptoms, occasionally leading to feelings of despair. Identifying the root causes of these complaints can often be perplexing. Subsequently, investigations may have explored potential issues with the bladder, prostate, or uterus. In instances where no abnormalities are detected, the conventional path typically leads to acceptance of the symptoms. However, we adopt a comprehensive approach, examining how pelvic organs, muscles, nerves, joints, and other structures interact.
To know the cause of your symptoms, we will ask you questions: what pain is involved, how it arose, where do you feel the pain, what other symptoms do you have, what has already been examined and treated, and so on. Your personal circumstances or events in your environment are also very important. We listen to your story and to your experiences. Then we do a physical examination. For example, we feel the tension in your muscles and we look at your posture and the way you move. We use ultrasound to see the function of your abdominal muscles, your pelvic floor muscles and small muscles in your back. Based on all the data, we make a diagnosis. Together with you, we then create an appropriate treatment plan.
This is what we can do for you:
- Listening carefully to your story.
- Examining everything related to your symptoms.
- Make a proper diagnosis
- Explain to you (in most cases) how the symptoms arose.
- If necessary, we will refer you to other health care providers for additional testing or treatment.
The above comes together in the Diagnostic Consultation. You will then spend cica 5 hours with us. Read more about it here
As part of the Diagnostic Consultation, we will establish a personalized treatment plan . Treatment consists of one or more of the options listed here. For these treatments, you can come to us. If you live abroad, the F-active All-in-One Program or the F-active Immersion Clinic may be of interest to you. We can also refer you to a practitioner in your area if available.
Good to know: we will teach you exercises so that you can practice on your own at home. These exercises are an important part of treatment.
And: we collaborate with doctors and other healthcare providers; we have an extensive (inter)national network.

In doing so, you can ask if they are willing to provide your medical records. Your doctor/ practitioner can also send the file to us. If you wish, we will contact your doctor/ practitioner(s) for you.

Diagnostic consultation: listening, asking, examining
Chronic pelvic pain is different for everyone. If you choose us, you will receive a questionnaire from us. You fill it out at home and send it back to us. Have you already seen a doctor or practitioner? We ask that you request a copy of your records and send them to us.
We will review your completed questionnaire and your medical records before your appointment. If our conclusion is that you have not come to the right place, we will refer you. If we expect to be able to help you, we will first have an intake interview. Based on your medical file and your completed questionnaire we will discuss your complaints. This can be done by phone, through an online consultation or at our clinic. We also talk to you about your home situation, your work or hobbies. We may also ask about your childhood: perhaps you also had problems with urination or bowel movements at that time? Was there a stressful situation? If, after the intake, it appears that you can be better served elsewhere, we will refer you on, with the summary of the interview.
In many cases, this is followed by a physical examination at our clinic. When you are with us, we take the time with two specialized practitioners to further assess your symptoms with you. Here, a comprehensive physical examination determines whether, for example, your muscles, joints or nerves are causing problems. If it is necessary and you agree, we can still contact your doctor.
Ultrasound
During the examination, we often use ultrasound. You may be familiar with this from the pregnancy ultrasound. With this device, we can show you how your muscles work. You can then see the difference when your muscles are tensed and when they are relaxed. You can also see what happens to organs such as the bladder and rectum when muscles are tightened or relaxed. With ultrasound, we can look at the muscles in the pelvic floor, as well as the abdominal and back muscles, or the diaphragm.
MAPLe
We use an ultrasound and sometimes we use the MAPLe; this device goes one step further than the ultrasound. The MAPLe gives us more details. For example, whether muscles on the left and right are different, whether tension is present on the front or back, superficial or deep.
We can use the MAPLe in the physical examination. We also use the device in treatment; it can help return muscle function to normal. The device can also deliver small amounts of electricity in a very targeted way. This helps with pain relief or targeted muscle activation.
Good to know: a personal measuring part (probe) is required to use the MAPLe. This is used internally. This probe is available from us for 65.00 euros. The price of this is not yet included in the diagnostic consultation. If you already have a probe, please bring it with you for the examination. This can also be another probe.

Which treatment do you want?
Your proactive involvement in managing your symptoms commences with selecting your preferred treatment option. You have the flexibility to undergo treatment either at our clinic or at your previous healthcare provider’s office. Importantly, we have established partnerships with numerous doctors, pelvic physiotherapists, and psychologists, ensuring seamless collaboration and comprehensive care.
Oftentimes, we initiate direct communication with the healthcare practitioner to whom we refer you, elucidating the treatment plan. We stand ready in the wings, offering support if treatment progress slows down. Should you have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Possible treatments
As part of the Diagnostic Consult ation, we will discuss the treatment plan with you. In the treatment you can do a lot yourself. We will teach you what you can do and how.
